This paper introduces the operation and construction of the rail transit system and uses data of Automated Fare Collection (AFC) System to analyze temporal and spatial passenger characteristics from three aspects of urban rail transit stations, lines and network, taking Suzhou Rail Transit Line 1, 2, and 4 and its branch line as the main research objects. Through massive volume of AFC data, the research finds the passenger flow of Suzhou rail transit lines is centripetal and tidal, and the passenger flow of the line section is uneven, especially the passenger flow of Line 1. According to the characteristics of the urban rail transit system, the paper proposes several operational management measures, such as to increase trains in sections with large cross-section passenger flow, pay more attention to stations with large peak hour coefficients and super peak hour coefficients, and use passenger flow diversion measures.
