In order to alleviate traffic pressures, many cities have begun to construct urban rail transit and conventional public transit. However, if the two develop individually, they will compete on parallel operation lines. Therefore, they must coordinate and complement each other. The object of this paper is to optimize the network of conventional public transit and promote coordination between these two travel modes. First, conventional public transit routes near the urban rail route are classified, and the route optimization adjustment process of conventional public transit is provided. Then, a network optimization model is established to maximize capacity matching degree and minimize competition degree between these two modes, and the genetic algorithm is applied to solve it. Finally, a numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model and the solution.
