Reversible lane is an effective way to improve the utilization rate from time and space of road resources. In order to solve the problem of insufficient utilization of temporal and spatial resources, a design method of reversible lane segment is presented by combining with the space resources of the intersection. Then, this present paper takes the four-phase signal intersection as the research object and designs with the signs, markings, signal controls. After combining with the design scheme of the reversible lane segment, the optimization method of intersection signal timing is established. The simulation results show that the queuing length is reduced by 17.7%; the stroke is reduced by 20.3%; and the number of vehicles through the intersection section increased by 174.5%; after setting reversible lane segment, the study indicates that the design and optimization of the reversible lane segment can effectively improve the traffic state and reduce the delay.
