The maglev train’s suspension system is the basis for its stable operation. Research on linear motors can potentially improve train stability and reliability. This paper proposes a three-dimensional finite element model of a two-dimensional linear synchronous motor with long stator in a high-speed maglev train according to the specific needs of the corresponding static and transient simulation, analysis of different situations of the train's air-gap magnetic field distribution, traction, and levitation force. The results are reliable and in line with the Shanghai high-speed magnetic levitation operation requirements, and can be used for maglev train linear motor electromagnetic design and optimization. Combined with the United States M3 system’s guidance capability analysis, the results show that the high-speed maglev system to improve the guidance force is not large, cannot guarantee the 10% supply of guidance suspension force, but can be used to reduce the weight of guiding electromagnets.
