This paper presents a simulation method to calculate the turn-back capacity at terminal stations based on the analysis of factors which influence turn-back capacity on urban rail transit stations. First, a traction calculation mode of metro trains is designed to obtain the velocity curve in turn-back operations. Then, a network topology structure method is built according to the actual interlocking block at turn-back stations, aiming to control route opening, and reversing train protection in railway sections. These two steps are therefore used to simulate the actual turn-back process and figure out train turn-back capacity. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the application of the simulation algorithm, its error is about 0.98% compared with the actual traditional method. It is expected to provide decision support to operational departments of urban mass transit in calculating turn-back capacity.
