In this research work a simulation model is developed to study the effects of change in frequencies or capacity of suburban trains on waiting time for the given demands at various suburban railway stations. As a case study Madras Beach — Tambaram meter gauge suburban railway line in Chennai, India was taken. The simulation model is used to find optimum frequency for existing and enhanced capacity of trains for desired loading level.
