The influence factors of incident duration and their effects were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA), totally 12 items of factors analysis. Then statistical methods were developed to allow quantitative regression of cusp catastrophe model (CCM) with incident duration data. The stepwise regression analysis was employed to find the best group of factors including alarm time, lanes occupied, casualties, rescue vehicles, incident style, time arrived on spot. As a normal factor AlarmTime, Lanes were used. As a bifurcation factor Casualties, RescueVehicles, IncidentStyle, TimeOnSpot were used. The fitting result of cusp catastrophe model indicates that three levels of duration were defined by stability, potential catastrophe and catastrophe areas and this model could predict the sudden changes of incident duration well. This CCM model could provide technical support for decision-making to dispose incidents.
