Airport rail transit is an important connector between airports and urban traffic systems, whose system mode is determined by the characteristics of the airport and the connection with the urban traffic system. The speed and capacity requirements for different types of airport rail transit leads to the diversity of system mode selection, locomotive type, and marshalling mode. In this paper, we study some of the world’s most famous airports with rail transit lines to study the reason for their system various selection, especially focusing on one airport with multiple choices. The conclusions explain the significance of the coexistence of multiple system modes of rail to a certain extent. Simultaneously, we reveal the advantages and disadvantages of those system modes in airport lines and their application conditions, which is helpful for developing new lines.
