Accidents involving container transport vehicles that occur in river-crossing road tunnels result in casualties and financial losses. However, few studies have been conducted to discuss container transport vehicle crashes in river-crossing tunnels, which exceedingly hinder the tunnel safety. A binary logit model was developed to predict the injury severity of container transport vehicle crashes that occurred in the Waihuan River-crossing road tunnels. Five attributing factors—including time, weather, occurrence locations, etc.—that significantly affect the accident severity were identified and involved in the model. The study discovered that the accidents involving light vehicles have the most serious impact on injury severities. It is more likely to be property loss-only accidents on rainy/snowy nights. According to the findings, the study proposed some suggestions on traffic management methods for urban river-crossing road tunnels.
