To reduce misdriving and traffic delays at interchange exits, transportation efficiency, and safety at these interchanges must improve. After studying interchange exit safety, principles of traffic engineering and ergonomics are applied, and theoretical calculation and comparative analysis are used to study the influence of mandatory lane signs and navigation systems on behavior at interchange exits. Analyzing the function of and relationship between mandatory lane signs and information service characteristics of car navigation systems, the distribution method of driver visual resources is studied according to probability and statistics theory, and then an information coupling model based on mandatory lane sign and navigation system function is established. From the perspective of lane indication concept and according to the driver’s cognitive behavior, interchange exit behavior is analyzed, and the adaptability requirement of the exit form based on lane indication and navigation coupling function, as well as the interchange exit optimization form, is proposed.
