The load from the impact of the rolling stock, in contrast to the weight of the upper structure of the railway track, is dynamic and is actually transmitted to the main site through the ballast layer, therefore, the magnitude of stresses and the shape of their plot on the main site, which are taken as the external load on the roadbed, is more difficult to obtain than from the weight of the upper structure of the railway track. The article presents the method of calculating the equivalent train load on the railway track. To illustrate the essence of the concept of equivalent loads, two characteristic examples are considered. In the considered examples, extreme cases with different loads are analyzed. The results of calculations according to the formulas set out in this methodology are presented. The given solutions of the equation make it possible to determine the value of the equivalent load for any field of coverage of active loads, including asymmetric, relative to the limits of their limitation. Conclusions are drawn about the feasibility of calculating using equivalent loads. The final formula for calculating the equivalent train load on the railway track is derived.
