Rail fastenings are intermediary constructions, which include all elements, operating in direct contact with the rail and rail support. We will examine in this article basic requirements for rail fastenings on the railways of JSC RZD, and their comparison with the requirements of the European standard EN 13481 operating in several countries of the European Union. Classification by categories of fastenings depending on applications, speed, axial loads, as well as the type of rails, which are used in the construction of railway track is one of the differential characteristic of requirements of the Russian Federation and the European standards.
