Cost analysis in transportations design allows to assess the efficiency of multimodal deliveries and expand the geography of transportation. The paper presents a method for calculating the value of the components of multimodal transportation and provides examples of cost calculations. The influence of vehicle loading on the costs of delivery is shown, a comparison of the cost components for water, railway and motor transport was carried out. The cost ratios of water, railway, motor, and air transports are given. It is concluded that the cost of air transport is an order of magnitude greater than other methods of delivery. The least expensive is the use of water transport. When using the input data presented for short distances, motor transport had some advantages over railway, but when the length of the route increased, railway delivery was more profitable. This is due to the carrying capacity of the railway trains.
