The paper is devoted to the experimental study of the appearance of wave packets formed in the boundary layers in the regions preceding a sharp local change in the flow velocity inside the boundary layer (fronts of a longitudinal localized disturbance). The influence of an increased degree of free-stream turbulence on the development of these disturbances is investigated.
