This paper describes the design and operational test of the Power Control Unit (PCU) of the RX-320 Atmospheric Payload sounding rocket. RX-320 is a sounding rocket developed by the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space of the Republic of Indonesia (LAPAN), department of Rocket Technology Center. As a sounding rocket, the RX-320 Atmospheric Payload contains atmospheric meteorological sensors, and should measure the atmospheric parameters such as pressure, temperature and humidity, also the atmospheric gas parameters, such as carbon dioxide, ozone and nitrogen dioxide. The RX-320 Atmospheric Payload sounding rocket also have separation system to perform separation between rocket payload and rocket motor at the maximum altitude after lift off. The PCU should provide power for all of the electronic components so the RX-320 Atmospheric Payload can perform the mission. Power budget of the system has been iterated to provide the PCU criteria and design. Smart load balance has been designed for two-channel batteries to provide balanced load of each battery. The functional and load tests have been performed, that indicated the PCU is in the right way to support the RX-320 sounding rocket mission.
