The available works practically do not consider the functionality and possible characteristics of magnetoplasma sails within the Earth magnetic field. A preliminary assessment using existing techniques and experimental data has shown that magnetoplasma sails can be used inside the Planet’s magnetic field to maintain non-orbital motion beyond the atmosphere (up to levitation) and decelerate space objects moving at orbital speed, as well as protect them from charged particles. Thus, experiments on Earth orbit with magnetoplasma sails, in addition to scientific, can also have significant practical value.
