A Dubins paths–based guidance methodology for minimum-time lateral interception of a moving and nonmaneuvering target is considered and existence of Dubins paths is established for the scenario. The path lengths and the interception points are obtained for all possible Dubins paths. The shortest path among the Dubins set is proven to be the minimum-time path for lateral interception of moving targets. A classification for the initial geometries is analyzed for deducing the time-optimal path from the Dubins set. Corresponding capture regions are obtained for individual Dubins paths. Simulations are carried out complying with the analytic findings.
