The cycling-mad city of Rotterdam is set to be the first in the Netherlands to have a cycle lane made entirely from 100% recycled asphalt, thanks to the use of a pine-based additive made by Arizona Chemical and developed with Dutch asphalt producer KWS Infra. When old asphalt is treated with the additive, it can be handled just as if it were new, according to Arizona.
