European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has published a series of documents addressing remotely piloted aircraft in EU airspace. They set forth guidelines, acceptable means of compliance, and regulations for the operation of unmanned aircraft system in Member States' domestic airspace. The Opinion No 01/2020 proposes what EASA considers to be the minimum necessary rules, to be complemented in the future with additional provisions, enabling a more mature state of airspace integration. The proposed rule structure is divided into eight chapters, or categories. These chapters include: principles and general requirements, establishment of the U‐space, general requirements for aircraft operators and U‐space service providers, U‐space services, Common Information Service (CIS) providers and U‐space service providers, competent authorities, pricing of CIS, and final provisions. The European Union and its Member States have engaged in intense efforts to integrate unmanned systems into their joint and national airspaces.
