The European Union and the United States are not the only regions taking steps to integrate unmanned aircraft operations into their respective national airspaces. The two major efforts have been in Europe and the United States, but other nations have participated or observed in some fashion the progress that has been made in those geographical areas. This chapter examines, at a top level, how other countries have reacted to the growth of remotely piloted aircraft in their jurisdictions. The countries selected are just a sampling of airspace integration activities around the world. The task of developing standards and recommended practices to assist compliance with the evolving regulations, while simultaneously supporting regulatory authorities in promulgating those regulations, is the motivating force behind standards development organizations.
