Microalloying elements are critical components of modern automotive steels, whose property requirement have become increasingly demanding. The influence of microalloying elements niobium, vanadium, titanium, zirconium and boron on the properties of these steels is described, along with a discussion of the several mechanisms (recrystallization and transformation retardation, precipitation, substructural alternation, inclusion shape control) responsible for the observed effects. Product forms considered include hot-rolled strip, cold-rolled- and cold-rolled and recrystallize-annealed sheet, and forging. This article is translated in Russian too.
