Numerical simulations are conducted to investigate the performance of wings in close proximity to ground. The simulations are based on two different methods, a Vortex Lattice Method and a Panel Method, in an ideal and potential flow. Extensive wind tunnel tests for various wing configurations with and without endplate and whole WIG crafts were carried out to study the aerodynamic characteristics of wings in ground. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate whether the present two methods can predict properly the performance variations of the wing in ground due to the wide range of parametric changes such as camber, thickness, angle of attack, ground clearance and endplate, etc.
