A new organic-silicate composite coated steel and Zn-Mn alloy electroplated steel have been developed to enhance corrosion resistance of coated steel for automotive body panels with light coating weight. The newly developed organic-silicate composite coated steel (EZN-UC2) achieved higher corrosion resistance than present commercial product (EZN-UC) by changing the composition of the coatings and provided bake hardenability through low curing temperature. Zn-Mn alloy electroplated steel provided extremely high corrosion resistance based on the nature of manganese. The both products attained higher corrosion resistance than galvannealed steel with the coating of 60 g/m2, even though the coating weight of the products is 20-30 g/m2.
