The large and complex spacecraft power systems of the future necessitate using a modular modeling concept. The spacecraft power system is considered as an interconnection of modular components. Each component is treated as a two-port network, and a state model is written with the port voltages as inputs. As a result, each component state model is solved independently of all other components. The state model of each component is solved using its state transition matrix. The component inputs are assumed clamped during solution of the state models. After updating the state variables of each component, the inputs are then updated using network analysis principles. During simulation, the state models and network equations are solved alternately.
