When taking into account the assumptions made as for example neglecting temperature influence, frequency or load sequence, good results have been obtained by the presented fatigue calculation approach of chassis mounts. By the presented calculation concept it will be possible to make absolute fatigue strength evaluations. It can also be used to evaluate different stochastic force-time signals which are continually adapted to the current design status within the scope of chassis development. In principle, it can be said that the calculation results are turned to be more critical than the component tests. This is largely due to the definition of the failure criterion. A damage of D=1 means an initial crack of 2-3 mm in length and does not mean a total failure. According to the current status of the calculation concept, it can be said if a calculated damage of D=1 is taken as a base that the real fatigue strength will be approx. 2-3 times higher. In order to ensure that the fatigue calculation in the development of chassis mounts is considered as the state-of-the-art, additional investigations and tests are, however, still necessary. It is expected that an optimization of the fatigue calculation will be achieved by using new FE constitutive laws as for example the Tube model or Morph model by which the strain softening effect can be taken into account.
