The acid-gas pipelines of a gas refinery were simulated in the laboratory to study the corrosion kinetic and related mechanism using linear polarization resistance. A liquid sample selected from the feed of sulfur plant was poured into a beaker and placed in a pressurized glass cell. An imides inhibitor, which was formulated with the commercial-grade imidazoline and dimer-trimer acid was used to study the corrosion rate changes. The carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide gases were injected into the test cell in the proportion of 2 to 1. The EIS measurements were carried out at the open-circuit potential with an amplitude of 10 mV alternating current potential in the frequency range of 1 mHz to 100 KHz. The imidazoline molecule bonds with the metal surface by the five member ring structure. This ring structure contained two nitrogen atoms, which had many electrical charges, thus making the ring hydrophobic and the impedance spectroscopy, showed small changes in corrosion rates.
