A comprehensive analysis of the duplex steel welding technology and criteria for evaluation of the macro and microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the welds was done. An example of a technology applied in the shipyard industry was presented. In the example, the welding was carried out by FCA welding method on the UNS S 31803 and A36 steels using the FCW 2205-H, FCW 2205-PW, 2205 + Flux 805, OK.Tubrod 14.27 wires. Role of the thermal cycle of welding and the welding principles in order to avoid crystallization-related cracks was discussed. Recommendations for constructing the chemical cargo carriers (tankers) were given.
