The driving torque measurement method discussed in this report proved to be a suitable method for aerodynamic investigations under real driving conditions. This method offers the possibility to reproduce the road condition in the wind tunnel, which is necessary to achieve comparable results. The accuracy that could be reached with this method so far is comparable to the advanced coast down techniques. The basis for this method is a steady state driving condition that can be reproduced much easier on a test stand than the complex process of a coast down measurement with changing parameters. With the mentioned optimisation approach the accuracy of the method can be increased. Due to the considerable expense of the measurement process, this method is not suited to testing a series of many cars. The method is ideal for performing precise road load investigations for a single car in different conditions. The rolling resistance measurement trailer is a valuable tool with big potential. For the road load determination, the trailer is very important to improve the accuracy because it enables the exact reproduction of the driving condition of the wheel on the road. This cannot be reached on a test stand.
