Five typical tubular components with changeable cross-section are successfully formed in the hydroforming press with the maximum pressure 400 MPa. The materials of these five components cover aluminum alloy, stainless steel and mild steel and the application fields involve aircraft, aerospace and automotive industries. Among these components, the maximum diameter of one hydroformed part is 161 mm and maximum thickness is 6 mm. Effect of loading path (the relationship of the internal pressure and the axial feeding) on the number and shape of wrinkles and thickness distribution of the final parts was discussed. Not all wrinkles are defects. Accumulation of materials in expanding area by formation of wrinkles is an effective method for obtaining preforms. The key issue is to obtain ''useful'' wrinkles instead of ''dead'' wrinkles. By using this method, the zone of process window can be enlarged for hydroforming process.
