The San Diego County Water Authority (Authority) performs annual internal inspections of its pipelines as part of its Aqueduct Protection Program (APP). During one of the routine maintenance inspections of the Authority's treated water Pipeline 4, cracks were discovered. Following the initial investigation, the Authority determined that the cracks in the pipeline were due to differential settlement between the structure and adjacent sections of pipeline. Instead of standard cement mortar or epoxy linings, CORROPIPE II PW, 100-percent solids, polyurethane, potable water lining was used. One year after completion of the work, the Authority inspected the pipeline to evaluate the condition of the repair. Due to the observed excellent performance, the Authority cancelled the construction of a total replacement of the pumping well and three sections of PCCP.
