Naturally aspirated, turbocharged and turbocharged-aftercooled configurations of spark-ignited, hydrogen-fueled Caterpillar 3304 are compared with the standard naturally aspirated diesel. Power, fuel consumption, and emissions are compared. Turbocharging the hydrogen engine provides power and fuel consumption data comparable to the naturally aspirated diesel while maintaining extremely low emissions. (Puschmann)
