Computer networks linking dealers and suppliers are part of the auto maker's drive to 'just-in-time' production. It makes for more efficient operations. General Motors of Canada is instituting computerized links with suppliers and dealers to tighten production through parts assembly to delivery of the finished automobile. These measures are part of an ongoing drive by GM to just-in-time (JIT) production, a concept conceived by the Japanese and now widely embraced by North American auto makers.
