Using a 4 wheel vehicle model the influence of rear wheel steering and of additional steering of each single wheel is investigated. The motion of a passenger car on horizontal, dry plane till the limits of maximum contact force coefficients is considered. For the steady state cornering the balancing of the contact force coefficients of an axle increases the maximum driving velocity. The rear wheel steering can be used to achieve arbitrarily choosen steering properties. The simulation of steering step input, braking in a turn and the frequency response characteristics give a first impression of the possibilities opened by additional steering.
