The imperative of water quality monitoring in aquaculture is heightened by the escalating impact of human activities on aquatic environments. This paper provides a systematic review of the latest advancements in IoT-based underwater robotics, showcasing their transformative potential for water quality assessment within the aquaculture sector. We critically examine a selection of innovative underwater robot clusters equipped with a plethora of sensors for environmental data collection. The examination investigates the intricacies of these systems, highlighting their operational frameworks, the diversity of measurable parameters, and their capacity for real-time data acquisition and processing. By evaluating the current landscape and identifying gaps in the existing methodologies, this survey aims to steer future research towards enhancing the efficacy of underwater robotics in water quality monitoring, ultimately contributing to the preservation of marine life and the optimization of aquaculture practices.
