In this era of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicles, tracking road users has gained a significant role among various fields of research. Although similar techniques are being used in aerospace as well as military operations, but tracking road users still remains an unexplored field. This paper proposes a vehicle tracking modeling approach considering the noisy control distortions which come into effect during the process. An optimal moving horizon observer has been designed and implemented for both linear and nonlinear dynamic problem of tracking ground vehicles in a two dimensional plane.
