The most important characteristics of machine tools are productivity, technological capabilities, accuracy, adaptability, reliability, durability, environmental sustainability, ergonomics and technical and economic efficiency. At the same time, labor safety requires requirements for the operation of machines involved in transport engineering. It should be noted that, due to the peculiarities of the processing of parts on such equipment, it does not allow the use of theoretical models of noise generation and methods for calculating noise spectra developed for universal milling machines. The article discusses the acoustic characteristics of gear hobbing machines and presents the results of their theoretical studies. The theoretical models of the process of noise generation of gear hobbing machines are presented. The obtained dependences make it possible to determine the levels of sound pressure during milling of teeth, taking into account the geometric changes in products and the parameters of the technological process. These models make it possible to confirm the theoretical regularities in the formation of noise spectra, as well as the contribution of sources to noise generation in the workplace.
