In this paper, a consensus sliding mode control method is proposed for multiple fixed-wing UAVs to achieve formation control. Relied on the kinematic model of fixed-wing UAVs, the outer loop of the formation controller is designed. Then the inner loop controller is constructed upon the aerodynamic properties of the studied UAV. Finally, a numerical simulation is conducted to assess the effectiveness of the proposed method to illustrate the capability to establish and maintain a predefined formation configuration.
