In the context of aggravating ecological problems and strengthening of international norms on greenhouse gas emissions, the transition to ‘green’ technologies in the transport and logistics sector is becoming more and more urgent. The purpose of this work is to review the most promising innovative ‘green’ technologies and assess the effectiveness of ecological modernization of transportation, economic feasibility and long-term prospects for the development of the industry. The research is focused on the systematization of existing approaches and analysis of data reflecting the experience of introducing alternative fuels and digital solutions. The main directions of ecological modernization of transportation from the introduction of energy-saving technologies and intelligent transport systems to the use of digital monitoring tools are considered. The contribution provides statistical data illustrating the dynamics of environmentally oriented logistics development and comparing the effect of different technologies on emissions and economic efficiency. Scenarios of green transport development are suggested, taking into account technical, economic and legislative factors, and conclusions are formulated. The results may be interesting for transport and logistics specialists, experts in the field of environmental management, as well as for a wide scientific audience dealing with sustainable development issues.
