Intelligent and real-time traffic abnormity warning is critical to avoid traffic accidents, improve traffic efficiency, and alleviate traffic congestion. Nevertheless, it is difficult to realize proactive and timely detection and warning with current traffic monitoring systems, which are mainly based on roadside cameras and manual analysis. In view of this, this chapter proposes and implements a proactive traffic abnormity warning system based on V2X communications and vehicular edge computing. The effectiveness of the system is demonstrated by comparing it with the conventional traffic anomaly warning system based on cloud computing.
