The process of modeling of SJAs at low AoA [1, 2] is very different from that at high AoA [3]. The structure of the actuator nonlinearity is also very different. Therefore, while deploying parametrized nonlinear functions for the SJAs, there must be a consideration for accommodating an appropriate function that is suitable for a reasonable range of AoA of an air vehicle. The characteristics of SJAs at low AoA and high AoA are significantly different as has been seen in the earlier chapters as well. As a consequence, a unified modeling framework for SJAs that is valid for the entire operating regime of AoA results in the actuator nonlinearity function being dependent on the AoA. That is, the SJA nonlinearity function varies with the AoA: a state of the aircraft, making the actuator function a state-dependent or signal-dependent [4]. Such SJA nonlinearities, in the topics dealt so far in the book, are significantly dependent only on the AoA among the states of the aircraft. We conceive that other states of the aircraft can also affect the SJA uncertainties in a nonlinear sense. However, wind tunnel tests conducted with SJAs at leading and trailing edge of airfoils have so far not revealed such a specific dependency. Therefore, a generalized class of systems with the actuators representing the dependencies over multiple signals which is a hitherto unaddressed problem in the literature needs to be systematically studied.
