On commission by the Traffic Safety Office, the Swedish Road and Traffic Research Institute (VTI) has investigated how techniques related to knowledge based systems (expert systems) can support work with traffic safety in local communities. The project was carried out in collaboration with the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA) at Linkoping University and Pitch Kunskapsutveckling AB. As part of the project local community activities in the field of traffic safety have been analyzed and comparisons have been made with the methodology suggested by SATIK. The goal of the project SATIK (Safe Traffic in Our Community) is to improve work with traffic safety. The results show differences between the situation today and SATIK. Thereby it is possible to identify areas with need for support.
