A proposal has been made to construct, mark and light runway 24 extension 1000' and associated parallel taxiway; install in-runway lighting and relocate navigational aid, at the Bradley International Airport, Hartford County, Windsor Locks, Connecticut. The construction of the proposed extension is expected to increase air carrier operations by approximately 1%. The extended runway will allow aircraft to take off heavier than previously, thereby causing them to fly lower, for a longer duration of time and increasing noise pollution proportionately. Aircraft landing from the northeast will not be any closer to the Suffield community than they presently are operating as the Sponsor intends to maintain a displaced threshold at the location of the present end of the runway.
