The United States (US) possesses the largest and most powerful Navy in the world. However, the greatest maritime force ever assembled is not without capability gaps. The Navy requires a vibrant riverine capability in order to provide Combatant Commanders a versatile brown water force. In addition, they are a viable option to meet the challenges presented in either new generation warfare or great power competition.
