The objective of the computer program for which the users guide is furnished is to estimate the cost of materials and fabricating for the inert components of a given metal rocket-motor case. The program encompasses all major components of a solid-propellant rocket motor except the nozzle and the loading of propellant. Thus the program includes the motor case, its skirts, and closures. The program is limited to estimating the cost of motor cases up to approximately 60 inches in diameter and 180 inches in length. The metals provided for in the program are those commonly used for such motor cases; however, other metals can be treated if their characteristics of fabrication are similar to one of these. The program is expected to produce a cost estimate which is sufficiently accurate for the designer to use in his early design exercise to make the comparisons needed to produce an optimum performance/cost ratio for a particular rocket mission.
