Environmental and ship performance data were collected aboard the USCGC POLAR SEA in January-March 1981 as part of a multi-year program to make an operational assessment on the feasibility of a year-round marine transportation system (including offshore structures) serving Alaska. This is the second volume of a twelve volume set and focuses on both measured and observed ice conditions during the ship transit in the Bering and Chukchi Seas. These data are provided in the appendices and an analysis is made of design ice conditions for marine transportation systems and offshore structures.
