The project consists of construction of a six-lane freeway extending 2.7 miles in length from Salinas Street to Carrillo Street in the City of Santa Barbara. The primary environmental benefits of the project will be the elimination of the four signalized intersections on Route 101. This will result in a reduction of accidents, congestion and noise and air pollution. The major adverse effect of the proposed project is the displacement of between 825 and 1700 people and 78 to 156 businesses. (Author)
