The document is intended to be a training supplement to material contained in the Final Report on Project H-101, Pavement Maintenance Effectiveness, and in Development of a Procedure to Rate the Application of Pavement Maintenance Treatments, Report Number SHRP-M/FR-92-102, Strategic Highway Research Program. While conducting the research, the project staff identified three areas of concern, which are presented here to assist organizations in improving their pavement maintenance through better use of maintenance treatments. The project research included: chip sealing, slurry sealing, crack sealing, and thin overlays on flexible (asphaltic material) pavements. For rigid (Portland Cement Concrete) pavements, the research included crack and joint sealing and undersealing.
