The baseline engine control requirements were generated from previous control design experience. The control requirements for the 680-B1 (next generation engine) were then generated from a top down analysis of mission (weapon system), aircraft, and engine requirements. The performance, operability, and engine component life parameters were then varied to determine the trade-offs with each other. It was clearly demonstrated that the control logic can perform trade-offs in these parameters through the choices made throughout the logic design procedure. (Author)
