The report deals with problems connected with operation of an automatically controlled guided vehicle system that provides non-stop service from origin to destination with single party occupancy of vehicles in a personal rapid transit system (PRT). The principal objective of this work on control strategies is to examine the effects on system performance and capacity of alternative operating strategies for selecting vehicles to service passengers; the problems related to the continuing redistribution of empty vehicles in the system; and the questions concerned with routing vehicles to their destination.
