The program is for hydrodynamic calculations about ship configurations with free surface effects and is an adaptation of the NLR PANEL program. The latter program, operational since 1969, may be regarded as a 'workhorse' for aerodynamicists in computing potential flow around complex configurations. The HYDROPAN program is capable of treating a broad class of configurations including conventional displacement ships with or without appendages, catamaran and small waterline area twin hull (SWATH) ships and hydrofoil configurations. The memorandum describes the practical usage of the HYDROPAN program and serves as a user's guide for those having little experience in its application.
